Renovation Works at the Maritime Museum

Work on establishing the future Naval Museum in the former “Arena Trikotaže” building is progressing according to plan. After the Gallerion collection opened on the ground floor last year, the second floor, built in 1970, is currently being renovated into a spacious museum storage area and a molecular-microbiological laboratory.

The renovation is based on detailed 3D plans we created and includes the installation of heating and cooling systems, new windows, and electrical wiring.

The museum storage area will be equipped with archival drawers and specialized mobile shelving systems for storing museum artifacts, including paintings, textiles, and other sensitive materials. It will also include a restoration workshop and office spaces with an accompanying library.

The future laboratory, covering approximately 100 square meters, has been divided into seven rooms with the addition of walls, and furniture is being procured. Each room will serve a specific purpose: sample reception and processing, DNA extraction and purification, bacteriology, sample preparation for PCR, post-PCR sample processing, sequencing, and a data analysis office.

Upon completion, these renovations will ensure modern conditions for the proper preservation of museum artifacts and the conduct of scientific research, making the future Naval Museum not only an attraction for visitors but also an active cultural and scientific center.
