Opening of the new exhibition "Tropical Coral Reef" and the exhibition World Unseen"

Yesterday, May 27, we officially opened the new exhibition “Tropical Coral Reef” at the Pula Aquarium, located in three pools within the San Giovanni Battery area, and the accompanying exhibition “World Unseen”, realized in collaboration with our partner Canon Croatia.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. Sc. Milena Mičić, Director of the Pula Aquarium, addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of preserving coral reefs as one of the most sensitive and richest marine ecosystems. She reflected on the challenging field activities during which the coral fragments necessary for the project were collected and thanked the team for their dedicated work and contribution to its realization. Žarko Jaković, Aquarium Advisor at the Pula Aquarium, presented the technical challenges of building a coral reef and the importance of maintaining optimal conditions for coral life. Petra Prelog, Project Manager of the Canon “Unseen World”, presented the exhibition that brings coral ecosystems closer to a wider audience through lenticular photographs, creating an impression of depth and movement, and relief photographs. Goran Marković, Director of Canon Croatia and Director of B2C Business for the Adria region, pointed out that Canon's technology allows recording rare and invisible natural processes, including coral reproduction.

After the official part of the program, visitors had the opportunity to view the new display and exhibition, and the socializing continued on the Tropical Bar terrace with a snack. We would like to thank the Aquarium team, as well as everyone who participated in the realization and opening of the new displays. For the donated corals, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the curators of European aquariums from Zoo Vienna Schönbrunn, Naturkundemuseum Karlsruhe in Germany, Burgers' Zoo in Arnhem in the Netherlands, and the Natural History Museum in Bolzano.
