Last night, a lecture dedicated to the Battle of Lissa in 1866 was held at the Aquarium Pula, where the book "The Battle of Lissa – In the Light of Naval Armament" by Dr. Branko Belamarić was also presented.
The evening began with the "Tegetthoff March", composed by Anton Rosenkranz, performed by Professor Marijan Kopčić from the Viribus Unitis association in Pula, musically introducing the attendees to the theme of the evening.
Dr. Branko Belamarić, a naval engineer, delivered a vivid and exceptionally interesting lecture that took the audience back in time. Through the analysis of the naval fleets and armaments of the Austrian and Italian navies, complemented by the political and historical context and key figures of the era, the lecture gained a special charm with anecdotes from the lives of ordinary people—locals, officers, and their wives.
The event gathered numerous history and heritage enthusiasts, to whom we extend our thanks for attending.
