On Tuesday, June 9, we hosted Mr. Aljoša Milenković from CGTN (China Global Television Network), an international television network that is preparing a feature in English on the critically endangered noble pen shells (Pinna nobilis).
Their feature focuses on the maintenance activities and attempts to reproduce noble pen shell in controlled ex situ conditions at the Pula Aquarium, as well as the efforts of other partners in the national program for the Conservation of Noble Pen Shells in the Adriatic Sea, aimed at preserving the remaining individuals in their natural habitat (in situ).
During the visit, we discussed the activities and results of our work so far and presented the Noble Sanctuary. Our guest visited the exhibition area with live juveniles that we care for as part of the national program, the breeding and reproduction unit where we conduct research within the project "LIFE PINNACARE - Conservation and Restoration of Noble Pen Shell (Pinna nobilis)", as well as the phytoplankton breeding unit and the molecular laboratory.
We are proud to have had the opportunity to present our work to an international audience and contribute to raising awareness of the importance of protecting this endangered marine species.
We hereby sincerely thank Mr. Aljoša Milenković for his visit and expressed interest, as well as all project partners.
