The project “Aquarium Pula – On the Mission to Protect the Marine Treasure and Historical Legacy” brings a new level of experience to the Pula Aquarium – a place where the marine world, science and history meet in a unique way.
The project focuses on the protection of the endangered pinna nobilis, one of the most important species in the Adriatic, through scientific research and an interesting interpretation tailored to visitors. In parallel, the project also reveals the story of Fort Verudella, a historical fortress that is today becoming a space of knowledge, experience and heritage preservation.
The project is developing new content that makes the visit even richer and more interactive for visitors:
educational and multimedia content about marine ecosystems
interpretation of scientific work and protection of the pinna
presentation of the history and transformation of the fort
activities that involve visitors in the topics of sustainability and marine protection
The goal is simple – to turn visitors into participants who not only learn about nature and heritage, but also understand how they can preserve them.
The project is being implemented with the support of the European FU-TOURISM Acceleration Programme, which has provided EUR 20,000 in grants and participation in an intensive eight-month acceleration programme. [fu-tourism.eu]
The FU-TOURISM programme is focused on the development of innovative, sustainable and digital tourism, and through workshops and mentoring the project further develops:
creative tourism products and experiences
digital and interactive content
new ways of communicating with visitors
sustainable tourism development models
By participating in this programme, Aquarium Pula further strengthens its role as an example of good practice where nature protection, education and cultural heritage are combined into an attractive and contemporary tourist experience.
