Starting this Friday, you can visit our aquarium's new exhibition titled "Aquaponics."

Due to the dietary needs of our reptiles, we have begun growing vegetables using the aquaponics method in the enclosure of our invasive tropical turtles. Turtle waste enriches the water with nutrients that the plants absorb for growth, while the plants simultaneously purify the water, which is then returned to the turtles.

Aquaponics is an innovative and sustainable method of food cultivation on small areas, combining aquaculture (the farming of fish and aquatic organisms) and hydroponics (the growing of plants in a water-based medium).
