The noble pen shell "Morana," the longest-living pen shell in our "Noble Sanctuary," is progressing very well.
It has currently reached a length of 17 cm, having grown about 10 cm over the past year, which matches the average growth of noble pen shells in natural conditions. Morana is provided with optimal conditions for growth, including controlled temperature and water quality. Additionally, it is fed daily with a variety of microalgae from our own cultivation, ensuring the necessary nutrients.
It is currently located in the exhibition space dedicated to noble pen shells, where visitors have the opportunity to closely observe this species and understand its importance in the marine ecosystem.
A reminder that Morana was discovered on December 1, 2021, when it was only 1.5 cm long. Experts from the Public Institution Priroda, in collaboration with the Natural History Museum of Rijeka and the Pelagos Diving Center, found it on collectors placed at a depth of two meters near the island of Plavnik.
