New experiences and a valuable donation of endangered species during a visit to Vienna

This week, from May 19th to 22nd, we are on a business trip to Vienna, where we have the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with colleagues in the fields of aquarium science, conservation of endangered species and maritime heritage.

On Thursday, May 21st, we were invited to attend a lecture by Dr. Klaus Körner entitled “The Battle of Vis – Tegetthoff was no miracle worker, and Persano was no fool.” The lecture was useful for a better understanding of the maritime history of the Adriatic and the historical significance of the Battle of Vis in 1866.

During our stay in Vienna, we also visited the breeding center of the Schönbrunn Zoo aquarium again and would like to thank the curator of the zoo, Dr. Anton Weissenbacher, for the donation of endangered and critically endangered species of tropical freshwater fish: Betodia madagascariensis, Betta simplex and Makunaima pittieri, which we will try to successfully breed ourselves as part of our biodiversity conservation and public education activities.
