Loggerhead Turtles Marlin and Lorenzo Arrive at the Rescue Center

Yesterday, August 13, two more juvenile loggerhead turtles suffering from depletion syndrome arrived at our Rescue Center.

Marlin, found on August 12 by Kristijan, captain of the eponymous boat at the entrance to Pula Harbor, weighs 700 g, has a shell length of 20 cm, and is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old.

Lorenzo, found on August 13 by the parasailing boat crew Mario Piskač and Tim Šoljan from G. M. Korporacija d.o.o., off Lovrečica near Umag, weighs 1.3 kg, has a shell length of 21 cm, and is also estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old.

In collaboration with the Fondazione Cetacea association from Riccione, Italy, whose rescue center has received 20 turtles in similar condition since mid-June, we exchange information and, using the same methodology, collect samples of shell growth and tissue.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the rescue of these young turtles.
