Dr Milena Mičić receives Jutarnji list’s “Guardians of the Adriatic 2026” award!

Yesterday, 22 September, the “Guardians of the Adriatic 2026” awards were presented as part of Jutarnji list’s national project at the “Croatian Nautical Tourism 2030” conference, held at the Croatian Chamber of Economy in Zagreb.

This year, the “Guardian of the Sea” award was presented for the first time, and it went to Aquarium Pula Director Dr Milena Mičić for her many years of work dedicated to saving the noble pen shell and her commitment to educating and raising public awareness about the value and importance of preserving the Adriatic Sea.

“Guardians of the Adriatic 2026” is a national project and summer feature series by Jutarnji list dedicated to people whose work contributes to preserving the biodiversity, natural and cultural heritage, and life of the Adriatic. Through feature stories and awards, the project aims to highlight their tangible contribution to the conservation of one of Croatia’s most valuable natural assets.

The conference brought together representatives of state institutions, professional organisations, businesses, and the nautical sector. Three panel discussions addressed the national regulatory and strategic framework, the European and international context, as well as the market, promotion, and booking trends in nautical tourism.

Congratulations to Milena on this valuable recognition, and thank you for your many years of dedication, hard work, and contribution to the conservation of our sea!
