On Saturday, August 3rd, a loggerhead turtle named "Alen," measuring 43 cm in length and weighing 7.2 kg, and approximately 7 years old, arrived at the Rehabilitation Center.
It was found floating on the sea surface near Rovinj by Alen Jakus, who then contacted us. The turtle was examined and cleaned, and a slight buoyancy disorder and malnutrition were detected.
We also had two other turtle reports. A larger healthy turtle was spotted near Ližnjan, diving normally, and no intervention was needed. Meanwhile, in open waters, Alexander Schmidt’s boat assisted in returning a turtle caught as bycatch to the sea. The caught turtle was disoriented, and following our staff’s instructions, they monitored the turtle until it regained its condition.
