Loggerhead Turtle Elpis Arrived at the Recovery Center

On Saturday, June 1st, in the late afternoon, a loggerhead turtle named Elpis (Greek for "hope") arrived at our Wildlife Recovery Center. He is approximately 10 years old, weighs 15 kg, and is 50 cm long. He was found stranded on the beach at Solaris Camp (Poreč) in an extremely lethargic and malnourished state, having swallowed a fishing hook. Thanks to the quick response of the camp staff and the Poreč Veterinary Station, the turtle arrived at our Recovery Center quickly, where he immediately began treatment with antibiotics, IV fluids, and vitamins. An X-ray determined the exact position of the hook, which will be removed once her condition stabilizes. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the staff of Solaris Camp and the Poreč Veterinary Station for their assistance in rescuing Elpis.
