Seagrass meadows

Areas with an abundance of light, coarse sand and a bigger or smaller quantity of mud are a habitat for large communities of seagrass, which can be found at depths of up to 40 m. In the Adriatic Sea, as well as the entire Mediterranean, four species of seagrass are observed: the Neptune grass, the Cymodocea nodosa, the Zostera noltii and the Zostera marina.
